IUSF interrupts University examinations on JVP orders

The Inter University Students Federation (IUSF) obstructs the annual examinations which decides the future of Universities students. Under Graduates are facing threats from the Federation.

The activists linked to Inter University Students Federation had intimated to the students avoid sitting the examination organized today for several faculties of the Rajarata University. Expressing views to Prime TV, the students said that the first and the second year students sitting the examinations had been threatened over the phone to refrain from answering the examination. However a handful of students had come to the University Hall to sit the examination amidst threats. It is reported that they came under attack as a result while some sustained injuries.

Minister S. B. Dissanayake pointed out that the group affiliated to the inter university students federation were behind this act of sabotage.

Meanwhile a sub-warden of a hostel was wounded after being attacked by a small group of student monks of the Sri Jayawardenapura University. Vice Chancellor of the University Dr. N.L.A. Karunaratne said that the incident happened when a group including himself visited the Bhikku hostel to look into the disturbance within the Hostel.

As a result of such saboteurs, affiliated to the Inter University Students Federation, during the last few weeks, it is the future of the Universities Students that is being affected. It is the Inter University Students Federation which is directly accused of attempting to obstruct and assault the higher education Minister at Peradeniya, create disturbance through a student’s clash recently at the Rajarata University, attacking police officers by storming into the Higher Education Ministry at Ward Place in Colombo and assaulting police officers and attacking and injuring the Ruhuna Vice Chancellor. Under such developments, the time has come for students as well as parents to play a responsible role on behalf of the future of the motherland.
