Prime Minister D.M. Jayaratne has said that the present Government has launched several programmes to preserve the culture.
The Prime Minister said that a special programme will be implemented to mark the 2600th Sambudha Jayanthi by propagating Buddhism in the world.
He said that the President is expected to launch a programme that would facilitate spiritual as well as economic development. He said that this programme will be launched next year. He stressed that this country could be developed by working with commitment.
The Prime Minister was speaking at the inauguration of the two storied building at the Sri Sumana Pirivena in Ganegoda, Kalugamuwa. Minister Bandula Gunawardena also participated in the occasion. The building was constructed with the assistance of philanthropists and local residents.
