Current and former mayors praise official as vigilant, trustworthy
When Donald B. Rose first signed on as Wheaton's city manager in 1980, the now-bustling Danada commercial area was nothing but hundreds of acres of cornfields. Merchants and restaurateurs in town were not permitted to sell alcoholic beverages, and the city's central business district — complete with a fire station on a one-way street and an 84-year-old county courthouse — looked little-changed from the 1950s.
