Prime Minister D.M. Jayaratne has said that five bills related to religious activities will be tabled in Parliament in the near future.
The Prime Minister was speaking while participating in programmes organized in the Trincomalee district in parallel to the 2600th Sambuddha Jayanthi. The Prime Minister met the Maha Sangha at the Velunna Rajamaha Vihare in Kantalai. He also had discussions with Islamic religious leaders in Kinniya Mosque. After meeting Hindu religious leaders at the Trincomalee District Secretariat the Prime Minister had discussions with Catholic religious leaders at St. Joseph’s College. The Prime Minister handed over cheques for the development of places of religious worship. Many Parliamentarians were present.
