8-point buck struck by car on Meeting St. in Charleston

The Charleston peninsula isn't exactly a hunting preserve, so excuse Adam Crotts if he was surprised to see an 8-point buck dart in front of his work truck Tuesday morning on Meeting Street.
"It completely caught me off-guard," Crotts said. "It wasn't what I was expecting at all this morning."
Crotts said he slammed on the brakes to avoid hitting the animal near Romney Street about 9 a.m. The owner of D and A Cabinetworks attempted to use his trailer to block the animal in a Meeting Street yard until animal control arrived.
He watched and took pictures as the panicked buck repeatedly jumped a 6-foot fence in hopes of finding a way out.
"It wasn't a happy deer," he said.
