Aesthetics graduates call off protest

Aesthetics studies graduates called off their protest fast yesterday after a pledge by Acting Minister for Education T B Ekanayake that vacancies for posts of Aesthetics graduate teachers will be filled following oral interviews doing away with practical tests. The Acting Minister gave this pledge when he met representatives of Aesthetics Studies graduates. These interviews will be held before November 15.
Following the pledge the unemployed Aesthetics graduates who were on a non stop fast near Isurupaya decided to call of the fast. Present at the meeting were Senior Assistant Secretary of the Ministry of Education R D M P Weeratunga. The Acting Minister gave a patient hearing to the grievances of the graduate students before coming to the decision. He also said that once the interviews were complete all existing vacancies for Aesthetics studies teachers will be filled by recruiting only graduates. Those who do not possess certificates for Aesthetics subjects will in no way be considered for the vacancies, he added.
