RIDGEVILLE - Dorchester County Animal Control seized more than two dozen dogs because they were in a severe state of neglect, according to a magistrates order. Dead dogs were also found on the property, the order states.
The seizure happened after animal control received a complaint about nine or more dead dogs and many others that were starving, according to the order. Officers responded to 144 Traci Lane and found 10 dead dogs and 31 living dogs in a variety of conditions but none healthy, according to the order.
Magistrate F.J. Newton granted animal controls request to remove the animals, which were taken to the Frances R. Willis SPCA in Summerville where they will be cared for at the owners expense. They will be put up for adoption or disposed of properly, the order states.
The dog owners are not identified in the magistrates order.
