Three men were charged after the discovery of an alleged methamphetamine lab in a Gaston home, Lexington County law enforcement officers announced Friday.
Phillip Earl Helms, 44, of Blackville Court, Gaston; Brad Preston Hooks, 30, of East Peach Road, Winnsboro; and Robert Anthony Wright, 47, of Lawson Street, Batesburg-Leesville were arrested, shortly after officials were called to a residence on Blackville Court near Gaston after reports of a fire early Friday morning , the Lexington County Sheriffs Department said.
Once inside the home and after putting out a fire in a back room, officials found evidence consistent with meth lab production, according to reports.
Helms is charged with third-offense manufacturing methamphetamine and third-offense possessing a controlled substance with the intent to distribute it. Hooks and Wright are charged with manufacturing methamphetamine, according to reports.
All three are being held Friday at the Lexington County Detention Center awaiting bond hearings, officials said.
