500 new buses are to be added to the Sri Lanka Transport Board fleet for long distance services.
The SLTB has taken action to deploy additional buses for long distance services from next month. Accordingly 500 new buses are to be purchased. Minister Kumara Welgama said that all buses will be purchased from India. SLTB Chairman M.D. Bandusena said that the buses would be purchased on lease without burdening the Government. They hoped to spend four million rupees on each bus. The aim of deploying additional buses for long distance services is to cater to the needs of the public in remote areas.
