President special guest at World Expo closing ceremony

President Mahinda Rajapaksa who attended the ‘Expo 2010’ International Exhibition concluding ceremony in Shanghai as a special guest on Sunday night, arrived in the country concluding a successful three-day visit to China yesterday.
Apart from President Rajapaksa State leaders from over 20 countries including Nepal, Finland, Bahamas, Hungary, Lesotho and Timor and UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon attended Sunday’s concluding ceremony, states a press release issued by the President’s Media Division.
More than 74 million people had viewed the ‘Expo 2010’ which was held to unveil the image of development which is an all time record. The next largest number of viewers was recorded at the Expo Exhibition held in Japan in 1970 which was 68 million people.
The next Expo will be held in Milano, Italy in 2015.
