All precincts in York County were open and running smoothly by 7 a.m., said Steve Rast chairman of the county's Registrations and Elections Commission.
"We didn't really have any problems," he said. "There were a few machine issues -- less than 1 percent, I'd say."
Officials in Chester County also reported no problems at the polls this morning.
Heavy voter turnout is leading to long lines across Lancaster County, said Rick Crimminger, chairman of elections committee.
"Everything's open and operational," Crimminger said. "We have people lined up at almost all of the polls. It's heavy turnout for a midterm election."
