President Rajapaksa has called for the launch of a programme through schools to protect the posterity from the danger of diabetes.
The President made this appeal at a discussion at Temple Trees today. World Diabetes Day falls on the 14th of this month. The President was appraised about the programmes organized by the Colombo Medical Faculty, the Health Ministry and the Medical Council to mark the occasion. The posterity could be saved from the danger of the disease by making them aware of a proper food framework as well as exercises. The President pointed out that this would help control diabetes. Minister Maithripala Sirisena and Medical Groups pointed out that a National Policy with the joint participation of the relevant sectors in the health should be crafted for the prevention of the disease.
