Bowlers call the tune at Havelock Park

A total of 24 wickets tumbled on a dramatic opening day’s play as bowlers dominated proceedings while setting the tone for an exciting finish in the inter-school under 19 cricket encounter between Lumbini MV and Richmond College, Galle which began at the Colts CC ground in Havelock Park yesterday. Lumbini MV after been bowled out for 125 runs hit back strongly to skittle out their opponents for a mere 80 runs with left arm spinner Prabath Jayasuriya returning outstanding figures of seven wickets for 30. However Lumbini MV struggled once again in their second innings too and finished on 61 for 4 with an overall lead of 106 runs. Dananjaya de Silva added three more wickets to his tally following his magnificent eight wicket haul in the first innings. Lumbini MV: 125 (P. Dissanayake 29, A. Rusiru 32, H. Madushan 32, D. de Silva 8 for 45) and 61 for 4 (D. Priyadarshana 31, D. de Silva 3 for 21) Richmond: 80 (P. Waduge 23, M. Liyanapathirana 2 for 18, P.
