Minister Basil Rajapaksa has said that several measures will be introduced at the forthcoming budget to uplift the economic conditions of the self employed.
The Minister made this reference at the opening of the new trade complex put up for pavement vendors in the Nugegoda town. The Government spent 18 million rupees to build the trade complex which can accommodate about 200 traders. The trade complex was built within a short span of one month on the instructions of the President, who inspected the building of the complex recently. The Nugegoda Traders Association made a contribution to the “Api Wenuwen Api Fund” at the ceremony. Pavement vendors expressed their appreciation to the Government for building the trade complex which would enable them to engage in their trade sans hindrances.
