300 destitute families will receie new houses to mark the inauguration of President Rajapakse’s second term
The National Housing Development Authority organized a concessionary loan scheme in collaboration with the People’s Bank.
The National Housing Development Authority introduced a new loan scheme in parallel to the Jana Sevena Housing Programme. The People’s Bank will release 200 million rupees at 10 per cent interest to the National Housing Development Authority. The related agreement was signed at the Construction Ministry this morning in the presence of Minister Wimal Weerawansa and Deputy Minister Lasantha Alagiyawanna. National Housing Development Authority Chairman, Jayantha Samaraweera and People’s Bank Chairman, W Karunajeewa inked the agreement.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Weerawansa said that 300 poor families from Divisional Secretarial Divisions countrywide will be selected and the houses will be constructed and given to them before April next year.
