The Sinhalese families from Jaffna who were evicted by the LTTE held a press conference yesterday.
It was reported that approximately a hundred such families took refuge in Mihintale after their eviction. Now, they have moved back to Jaffna, looking to resettle. The families have taken shelter at the Jaffna Railway station, it was revealed at the press conference.
However, they claimed that though they had land deeds proving ownership, the LTTE had given their lands to ‘Mahavir’ families in their absence. As such, the Government was showing no intention to resettle them, it was said.
