Plans are underway to import fuel and gas directly from Oman.
The agreement on the purchase of oil was reached during a meeting between the Omani President in Sri Lanka Ali Almani and Minister Susil Premajayantha. The meeting took place at the Ministry of Petroleum Industries. Attention was drawn at this meeting to further strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries. Oman is a state which is engaged in the distribution of crude oil, furnace oil and gas. The meeting directed attention to the direct import of its direct import from Oman. At the same the Omani diplomat said that the business community in his country was very much interested in undertaking investments in Sri Lanka.
Mr. Ali Almani pointed out that Omani businessmen are displaying keen enthusiasm in investing in Sri Lanka. They are particularly making investments in the fields of Agriculture and infrastructure. Sri Lanka is successfully engaged in marching forward. Her economic and social development is also good. A vast development is also taking place in the tourism industry. The Omani diplomat assured his country’s support for Sri Lanka’s forward march.
