The Inter University Students Federation (IUSF) is to meet with religious leaders in the next few days to explain to them the plight of the university students.
IUSF Action Convener Sanjeewa Bandara said a delegation of the Federation would meet the chief prelates of the Malwatte and Asgiri Chapters today (6).
The IUSF he said plans to inform the chief prelates of the alleged suppression carried out against university students by the government and about the university students currently in police custody.
The Federation is to also continue with its meetings with political parties to explain to them the grievances of the university students.
Bandara said the IUSF has also launched a leaflet distribution campaign island wide to educate the people of the issue as well.
He noted that the IUSF is working at forming a broad forum including political parties, trade unions, religious leaders and civil society organizations to fight against the suppression of university students.
