President Rajapaksa has emphasized that it is the same law that is being enforced from Dondra Point to Point Pedro. He said that no one can influence the independence of the judiciary.
The President said no one can take the law into their hands. Also no one can change or destroy the law. Law and justice should be meted out equally to all citizens to build a country. The President emphasized that they always respected the independence of the judiciary. No one had the right to interfere in it. Despite being politically hurt on certain occasions or being impacted, one should be able to honour and respect it. He said they firmly believed that law and justice of the country should be further consolidated. The people considered the judiciary as the temple of justice. He added that this belief of the people had not been breached.
The President was speaking at the inauguration of the High Court Complex in Tangalla. The new three storied building cost 358 million rupees and is equipped with all facilities. Further expressing his views, the President opined that the people highly respects and trust the judicial network. He underlined that his aspiration is to enforce the law and justice in the country where honourable peace has been enthroned. Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa, Acting Chief Justice Dr. Shirani Bandaranaike, Minister Athauda Seneviratne and many people’s representatives were present.
