Cyclone ‘Jal’ which developed over the Bay of Bengal is now moving out of the island. However, fishermen have been warned of the danger still prevailing in the Northern and Eastern seas.
Meteorologist D.A. Jayasinghearachchi said that the depression over the Bay of Bengal which developed into a cyclone was now centred about 500 km North East of Jaffna. As a result rain or thundershowers will be experienced in the North and Northern seas. Intermittent or thundershowers will be experienced in other parts of the island. He also forecast rain or thundershowers in the Northern, North Eastern or Eastern sea areas. The wind speed may range from 20 to 40 kilometres per hour. And will be in the Northwesterly or westerly direction. He further said that Northern and Eastern sea areas will be rough. He warned fishermen not to venture into the Northern and Eastern sea as it would be rough.
