The External Affairs Ministry has announced that Pakistan President Mohamed Asif Ali Zardari is scheduled to arrive in Sri Lanka on the 28th of this month.

He will be arriving on a three-day official visit. External Affairs Ministry officials said that Mr. Zardari is expected to head an entourage of more than 30 including Pakistani Foreign Minister, Shah Mehmood Qureshi and leading Pakistani businessmen. During his visit, Zardari and his delegation are scheduled to participate in bilateral talks to boost trade and security cooperation between the two countries. The businessmen are expected to hold talks on possible investment opportunities in Sri Lanka. Pakistan has been a strong supporter of Sri Lanka during the decades-long conflict providing arms and training to latter’s security forces. Pakistan is the second largest trading partner of Sri Lanka in South Asia. Sri Lanka was the first country to sign a Free Trade Agreement with Pakistan.
