Student monks of the Sri Jayewardenepura University today (8) lodged a complaint at the Human Rights Commission (HRC) on the alleged harassment faced by the student monks at the university.
Secretary of the university’s Arts Faculty Students Union, Ven. Kamburupitiye Gnaneswara Thero told the media today that the complaint was handed over to the Commission to find justice against the suppression of student monks in the university.
Jayewardenepura University authorities suspended 17 student monks over an alleged clash between student monks and university officials at a university hostel on October 24.
However, Ven. Gnaneswara Thero has said that several of the suspended student monks were not present in the hostel at the time of the clash.
