This pre school training course for former LTTE cadres who had been re-integrated into society commenced at the Punthottam Rehabilitation Centre, in Vavuniya. 45 members joined in this residential programme, for which the course duration is 3 months. This is the first time in which the rehabilitated LTTE cadres are participating in such training after being returned to their relatives.
Compensation for Batticaloa war affected
The Government awards compensation to residents in Batticaloa who were traumatized by terrorism.
100 families in Batticaloa are to receive compensation within this week. The allocation made is 12 million rupees. In parallel loans will be given for self-employment. It is planned to grant financial assistance for the re-building of houses ravaged by terrorist activities. Repairs are being carried out to 500 houses in Kilinochchi and the work is nearing completion. Programme will be held at the Baticaloa District Secretariat to improve the living standards of the resettled civilians. These will be conducted under the patronage of Minister Dew Gunasekara and Deputy Minister Vijith Vijithamuni Soysa.
