Deputy Minister Nirmala Kotalawela inspects construction work on the Southern Expressway of which 65 percent of the work is completed
The length of the Expressway is 131 kilometers. It has 4 lanes. 78 percent of the construction of the stretch from Makumbura to Dodangoda has been completed whilst its 65 percent of the work from Dodangoda to Kurundugaha-hetepma has been completed. Furthermore 95% of the construction from – Kurundugaha-hetepma to Pinnaduwa has also been completed. Project Director Nimal Chandrasiri revealed that work on the entire road will be completed by end of July, next year.
The Expressway has 11 access routes while a massive bridge will come up across the Kalu Ganga. The Deputy Minister further pointed out that although the opposition attempts to paralyse the Government’s development work through false propaganda, it would not succeed.
