21 Undergraduates who stormed into the Higher Education Ministry and caused damages to its property have been enlarged on bail with strict conditions.
Accordingly the High Court released each student on a surety bail of 25 thousand rupees. The Court prohibited them from joining in demonstrations or meetings. The Court warned that if complaints were received that they had taken part in meetings or demonstrations, they would be re-arrested and remanded. High Court Judge Deepali Wijesundera told them that their responsibility was to pursue studies to secure degree and not to do politics. She opined that their first task was to secure degrees before engaging in politics. Mrs. Wijesundera who pointed out that a few who was attempting to exploit them for political mileage, requested the undergraduates not to be entrapped by these tactics.
