The Nuclear Regulatory Commission is discussing Progress Energy's handling of an issue at its Hartsville plant.
Monday's meeting is open to the public and will be held at the commission's regional office in Atlanta.
The regulatory enforcement conference focuses on the failure of a breaker on an emergency diesel generator at the plant owned and operated by the Raleigh, N.C.-based power company. That failure meant the generator would not have worked if it had been needed.
The hearing will determine how significant the event was and what level of corrective action needs to be taken.
The plant has had several problems this year requiring it to shut down. It has been offline since Oct. 7 because of an electrical problem in a coolant pump motor.
