PSUNU not involved in strike

President of the Public Services United Nurses Union (PSUNU) the Ven. Muruttettuwe Ananda thera has strongly deplored the organization of a work stoppage at a time when their demands in relation to Nursing Minutes were being met.

The Ven Muruttettuwe thera said that within a very short period the Nursing Service Minutes were amended and submitted to the Cabinet for approval on the 3rd of this month. It has already received the nod of the Cabinet. He emphasized that several of their demands had been met. Staging strikes for demands that had already been won, means displaying to the entire country that the demands had been won purely because of demonstrations. The prelate called on the members of his Union not be join in the work stoppage tomorrow and embarrass innocent patients.
