RAVENEL - A 25-year-old woman who was being held in the trunk of a car used a cell phone to call 911 and guide rescuers to her location, authorities said.
The victim, Brandy Scott Leigh of Ravenel, told the 911 operator she and the man who was driving the car had been fighting and he had thrown her into the trunk of her own car and driven off, according to an incident report from the Charleston County Sheriffs Office.
The call came in about 8:30 a.m. The woman described the car, which was registered in her name. She also said she thought the driver might be on dirt roads because the ride was bumpy, the report said. Deputies swarmed the car when it was stopped in the parking lot of a business.
The driver, Jeremiah Christopher Brown, 23, also of Ravenel, is charged with criminal domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature and kidnapping, said sheriffs Maj. John Clark.
