The Sri Lanka Navy has towed back to the Galle Port a multi-day trawler which was stranded in the deep sea for nearly a month.
The fishing craft which had left the Negombo Fisheries Harbour on the 19th of last month had experienced a mechanical fault. Thereafter it had drifted about 180 nautical miles towards the Maldives. At that time, there were five fishermen on board. Two of the fishermen managed to return to land after boarding another vessel. The other three had made an attempt to tow the boat towards the shore. They were able to get the support of the Navy through exchange of communication.. It was thereafter the Navy that towed the board to the Galle Harbour. The three fishermen are said to be in good health condition.
