The work stoppage organized by one of the extremist Nurses” Union has been totally unsuccessful. Hospital authorities emphasized that their union action had no impact on the day-to-day activities in Hospitals.
Colombo National Hospital Director Dr. Hector Weerasinghe said that a majority of the nurses reported for duty and the OPD, the Accident Service, the ICU and the Cardiology as well as other Units operated as usual without any disruption.
Director of the Colombo South Hospital Dr. Anil Jasinghe pointed out that the attendance of nurses at his hospital was vry hjigh and there were not disruption to services at the OPD, Clinics, Operating Theatres. These functioned as on a normal day.
Deputy President of the Public Service United Nurses Union D. Boralessa noted that attendance at the Karapitiya Hospital was normal and there were no disruptions to normal services at the Hospital.
