Minister Wimal Weerawansa has said that arrangements are already in place to extend relief to those whose houses have been damaged by floods. The Minister said that a special team had already been deployed in this respect.
The Minister pointed out that a special programme has been launched by his Ministry for the welfare of the civilians displaced by floods, at the behest of the President. He said his Ministry has already initiated a programme to meet the food requirements of these civilians. Two contact numbers had been issued to the public to inform their grievances. Mr. Weerawansa said proper responses would be made to all calls. He hopes that necessary aid would be donated for the displaced civilians after gathering their relevant details. His Ministry is geared to find solutions for their problems. A special Committee has been appointed to grant immediate relief to the flood victims
