The flood waters in Colombo and its suburbs are reported to be receding. The rains experienced last morning decreased by last evening.
The vehicular movement is returning to normalcy in Colombo and its suburbs. Police Media Spokesman SSP Prishantha Jayakody said that the roads that were flooded following the torrential rains have returned to normalcy. He pointed out only several by lanes are currently under water. The route No.119 – Maharagama–Nuegoda and Maharagam–Dehiwala bus service is currently disrupted and it will be restored during the course of the day. The students are attending schools. Our reporters say that the water clogged near shops and houses is receding. Meanwhile the Met Department has forecast that many areas may receive heavy showers today as well.
