President Rajapaksa has issued instructions to strictly enforce the laws against the abuse of animals.
President Rajapaksa issued these instructions during a discussion with members of the Organisation Against Abuse of Animals. The meeting was held at Temple Trees yesterday. The President directed attention to the prevention of the illegal transport of cattle. The President also ordered the seizure of animals including cattle being transported in a harmful way and the release of such seized animals to reserved areas with grass. The President told the Ministry of Livestock Development to focus special attention on such animals. The Ven. Athuraliye Ratana thera and President’s Secretary Lalith Weeratunge were among those present.
