We've added 617 records of health inspections for restaurants, bars, cafeterias and other eateries in Kershaw, Lexington and Richland counties.
The inspections were carried out between Sept. 17 and Nov. 5 by Department of Health and Environmental Control inspectors.
Sixty-eight area establishments in that period earned exceptional scores between 98 and 100 on unannounced, routine inspections.
Forty-six locations received B-level scores between 78 and 87 on their routine inspections and 15 earned a C with scores ranging from 60 to 76, but all those had or will have the opportunity to improve marks with follow-up inspections. The lowest follow-up score in this period was an 87, for the Happy China Buffet on Sunset Boulevard in West Columbia. That would require a 'B' posting, but a second follow-up raised the restaurant's score to a perfect 100. Eateries with scores of 88 or higher on routine or follow-up inspections may post an "A" in public view.
