Richland County deputies discovered more than one and a half tons of marijuana following a traffic stop Wednesday.
The weight of the pot made the cargo trailer carrying it sway, which caught the eye of patrolling deputies, the department said.
Hector Humberto Solorio, 28, and Heriberto Belmonte Solorio, 39, were driving north on Interstate 77 near Decker Boulevard around 9 p.m. when they were stopped, the department said.
Driver Hector Solorio did not have a valid driver's license and a joint was in plain view in the vehicle, so the deputies searched the vehicle and trailer, where they found 2,608 pounds of marijuana, the department said.
Both men are charged with trafficking marijuana and possession of a controlled substance. Hector Solorio also charged with driving without a valid license and improper change of lanes.
