The research report on the renovation and conservation of the historic Yoda Ela has been handed over to the President.
Yoda Ela, a canal which is 54 miles in length was constructed during the era of King Datusena to divert water of Kala Weva to Tisa Weva. It channeled water for 124 tanks on its way. The Yoda Ela was abandoned during the administration of the British. The conservation of the Yoda Ela has been planned on the instructions of the President. The report in this respect was handed over to the President at the Temple Trees. Several Parliamentarians were present on the occasion.
The conservation programme will be launched on Tuesday under the patronage of Deputy Minister S.M. Chandrasena.
