The granting of relief to flood victims who have taken shelter at temporary locations is continuously taking place.
Flood waters which wreaked havoc in Colombo and other parts of the country have receded. Water is still stagnated only in low lying areas. Although flood waters in many houses had subsided, the households had still not completed in cleaning them. As such they still remain in relief camps. Assistant Director of the Disaster Management Centre Pradeep Kodippili said that they are continuing granting sanitary as well as other facilities to them.
Meanwhile Minister A.H.M. Fowzie today toured the Rajagiriya area which was impacted by floods. The Minister who visited the Sri Sudharmarama Vihare where the flood victims had taken shelter, took action to provide them with food and meet their other needs. The Minister also inspected three houses which were damaged by a sand slip. He instructed the Disaster Management Director to take immediate action in this respect.
