The Education Ministry has requested the Provincial education authorities to take the necessary steps to hold the final term examinations in schools on dates that would not clash with the Presidential celebrations.
The final term school exams were initially scheduled to be held on November 15th, 16th, 18th and 19th. However, the Education Ministry has requested that these dates be postponed.
According to the Education Ministry, the decision had been made in order to allowhe school children to participate President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s swearing into office for a second term on November 19th.
Education Ministry Secretary Sunil Sirisena has told the media that the exams are to be shifted to November 22, 23 and 24 and that several schools in the Colombo city have been advised to close on the 19th.
