The people who were affected by the torrential rains have returned to their homes.
Thousands of people were displaced due to the incessant rains experienced in Colombo in 18 years. The displaced people who were staying at welfare centres have started returning to their homes after the flood waters started receding. The water has receded in the Kolonnawa area and the people who took shelter in the Vidyawardena Vidyala have returned to their homes. The Wijaya Rd and Gajabapura area in Kolonnawa which were under 6 feet of water are now completely cleared of flood water. Only a few houses in Gothatuwa area are currently affected. 10 members of two families from the area are currently staying at Edirisinharamaya in Kolonnawa.
