The President has said that all communities living in the country including the Sinhalese, Tamil and Muslim are equal after the country was released from terrorism.
The President expressed this view at a function held to mark the 20th anniversary of the forcible eviction of Muslims from the North, by the tiger terrorists. The function was organized by Minister Rishad Bathiyudeen. In 1990 the tiger terrorists evicted 13682 Muslim families from their places of origin in the north. Measures are being taken to resettle them in their villages. The President extended greetings for the people who are to return to their native places. Minister A.H.M. Fowzi, Deputy Minister M.L.A.M. Hisbulla and Parliamentarian A.H.M. Azwer were amongst those who participated in the occasion.
