NTUC To Protest Demanding Rs. 9,000 Increase

Nov 15, 2010 6:46:33 AM - thesundayleader.lk

The National Trade Union Center (NTUC) has planned to hold several protests tomorrow (16) to urge the government to grant a Rs. 9,000 salary increment for the working masses.

The NTUC says that trade unions affiliated to the teaching and banking sector would participate in tomorrow’s protest campaigns that are scheduled to be held at 12 noon.

The main protest is to take place outside the Education Ministry in Battaramulla at 12 noon and it will be headed by Lanka Teacher Services Union Head Mahinda Jayasinghe.

The NTUC initially demanded for a Rs. 8,000 salary increase and last week decided to increase the demand to Rs. 9,000.
