Minister Basil Rajapaksa has expressed his desire to transform Gampaha as a District which will have all the required infrastructure.
The Minister said it is sad to note that when compared with other District, Gampaha represented by many leaders had the minimal percent of water supply, which is one the main needs of the people. He expressed his gratitude that action ha been initiated under this agreement to launch water supply schemes for the benefit of the people in the Attanagalla and Minuwangoda electorates and in 47 Grama Niladhari Division of the Gampaha electorate
The Minister was speaking at the signing of an agreement for a drinking water supply project for the Gampaha District. It will be undertaken with Chinese assistance. The inking of the agreement took place at the Presidential Secretariat. Secretary to the Ministry of Water Supply A. Abeygunasekara and Vice-Chairman of the Company of the Chinese Government Li Wavo Yang signed the agreement. Several Parliamentarians, including Minister Dinesh Gunawardene were present.
