The Supreme Court has issued an interim order preventing the examining of a petition filed in the Appeals Court against the Court Martial.
The five member panel of judges of the Supreme Court, headed by the Chief Justice issued this ruling to the Appeals Court. The Supreme Court today considered a request made by the Appeals Court seeking an interpretation whether the Court Martial was a recognised Court. Making submissions on behalf of the government, the Attorney General said the Court Martial was a Court recognized by the Constitution. Only the High Court and the Court Martial are authorized to impose capital punishment. If so the Attorney General argued as to how the Court Martial cannot be a recognized as a Court.
