The ceremonial berthing of the first vessel at the Magampura Harbour will take place tomorrow commissioning the first phase of the Port by President Rjapaksa. It will herald another new era of the country.
Arrangements have been made for people to witness the arrival of the first vessel. It will entering the Magampura Harbour at an auspicious time tomorrow morning amidst chanting of Pirith by members of the Maha Sangha who will be on board the vessel “Jetliner”, followed by a sailing ship and a Sri Lankan cargo ship.
Deputy Minister Dayasritha Tissera invites the public to join in this historic occasion. He said the people who visited the Harbour are clearly aware that this is the result of a gradual process. The construction of the Harbour has reached the final phase as its shining water is ready to welcome three ships tomorrow.
Chairman of the Ports Authority Priyath Banduwickrema said that all facilities will be extended to public who will be arriving there. He invited the public to the premises to join in the ceremony marking the entering of the first ship into the Harbour. He said a musical show has been organized with the participation of many popular vocalists, in parallel to the event. There would also be a fire works display.
