A new audit finds South Carolina's Department of Motor Vehicles could improve management of contracts.
A Legislative Audit Council report was released Wednesday after a review of DMV contracts with a private ;company.
One contract was for a call center to answer general driver and insurance questions. The second with the same vendor collected information to track uninsured drivers. The audit found some employees were used for both tasks.
The audit recommends DMV re-negotiate one of the contracts to avoid paying the vendor for using the same employees.
DMV says it pays a fixed price for calls under both contracts. It disagrees that it was paying twice for the same service.
