The Secretary of State's office has released its annual "Scrooges and Angels" list of charities in South Carolina.
The list honors charities that give most of their money to their goals and punishes those who give the most to fundraisers.
Among the angels are Family Promise of Beaufort County, Cheer for Children in Rock Hill, Fields to Families in Ladson, the Horry County Museum Foundation in Conway and Pets Inc. in West Columbia. They all give at least 98 percent of the money they raise to their goals.
The scrooges include Firefighters Support Foundation of Greenfield, Mass., National Cancer Assistance Foundation of Sarasota, Fla., and National Veterans Service Fund of Darien, Conn. They all gave less than 18 percent of their money to their programs.
