Charleston unveiling free downtown trolley service

Tourists and pedestrians will soon find it easier to navigate downtown Charleston without worrying about traffic.
Mayor Joe Riley and other officials will be on hand on Thursday to announce the new, free trolley service that starts Monday.
The trolley will run in a 10-minute loop and help ease congestion on the Charleston peninsula by getting vehicles off the road. Officials hope it will be used more than the existing pay trolleys.
The local transit authority is providing the trolleys, but the costs are being picked up by the city, the State Ports Authority and the local Convention and Visitors Bureau.
