Gaffney man gets 25 years in teen's death

A Gaffney man has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for the shooting death of a teen last year.
Prosecutor Trey Gowdy said a Cherokee County jury returned a voluntary manslaughter conviction Wednesday for 24-year-old Thomas M. Smith.
Police say 19-year-old O'Brien Markee Guest was shot to death March 13, 2009, in a parked car in Gaffney during a drug deal.
Smith also was convicted of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession with intent to distribute near a school.
Circuit Judge Derham Cole imposed the sentence.
