Lalith Weeratunge has been reappointed as the Secretary to the President.
The Presidential Secretariat said that the President made the appointment with effect from 19th November. Lalith Weeratunge who was a senior Civil Servant received his primary education at the Matara Rahula Vidyalaya and secondary education at Royal College. A graduate of Colombo and Peradeniya Universities he was the Secretary to the Prime Minister during the tenure of President Rajapaksa as Prime Minister. Since 2005 he is performing his duties as the Secretary to the President.
Meanwhile Gamini Senarath has been appointed as the head of the Presidential staff. He has received his primary education at Matara Rahula Vidyalaya and secondary education at Richmond College. He is a graduate of the University of Colombo. In addition to his post as the head of the Presidential staff he is the Chairman of the Litro gas company.
