Police are investigating the possibility that 16-year-old Delvonte Tisdale stowed away in a jet wheel well and fell to his death when the doors opened on the jet's approach to landing last week in Boston, according to an airport spokesman.
The body of Tisdale, a North Mecklenburg High student, was found last Monday in Milton, a suburb on the south side of Boston.
Police say the teen's body suffered massive trauma.
Milton is over the approach used by some aircraft headed to Logan International Airport, although airport officials say most flights use an approach route farther east, over the ocean.
At least one family member has said in recent days that Tisdale might have been trying to leave home.
